We got to Glendale exactly 6 hours later and fell into the waiting arms of profkampf. First time we saw his place in California--it's full of art! We went to Phillipe's for dinner. It's the home of the original French Dip sandwich--as seen on Food TV. The place has a lot of character, and the food was good, and cheap. For dessert, we just had to go to the House of Pies, where Kirstie Alley used to indulge her buy-a-whole-pie-and-eat-it-in-the-parkin
Saturday morning we drove to Jinky's for the Simon (bearlesque) farewell brunchie with lots of local bears, including kingfuraday (he's very tall!), e_ticket, djmrswhite, aairplane, garycotti, simonbear, and some other non-LJ very nice guys....always great to meet new people. Then we headed down the 405 to Long Beach and our friend Sam, whom we've known forever and haven't seen in a while. He took us to Ambrosia, a spectacular Greek restaurant with the best Greek food we've ever had. Next morning we had brunch at a local Mexican buffet, said goodbye and headed out the 10 to Palm Springs, our home away from home.
So we've been swimming in the pool, soaking in the hot tub, shopping and eating out. As soon as we got in, we went to a few open houses because A) we're nosy lookie-loos, and B) we actually are interested in maybe buying a vacation/retirement place here. Met up with our friends Dave and Matt for dinner Sunday night, then back to their place to watch The Amazing Race. Monday we met another online friend, Michael, had dinner and hung out. Yesterday (Tuesday), did some shopping, got in some serious sun/pool time, and went to dinner with
Currently hanging out and thinking about eating and shopping. This afternoon, animbear, redbeardedblond and bigsabu arrive in their hippie VW van for a few days, then we all go to Disneyland. We haven't seen the boys in over a year, and are quite pining for them. It's their first time in PS, so we'll be squiring them around, showing them all the best places to shop and eat and hang out.
We'll keep you posted!
