Yesterday partner Steve and I had brunch with Dave and Dave, two nice guys from Australia who are visiting the city. We went to the Village Grill in the West Portal neighborhood--the first time for us, though the Daves have eaten there many times on past visits. It's great, with an old-time diner ambience and interesting menu. And the food was above average.
After brunch, we went back to our house to watch a taped segment of the news from last weekend--Superbowl Sunday--where the Daves appeared on camera for about two seconds. It was a story about what people were doing other than watching the game, and showed people brunching at the Cliff House. The Daves appeared in the background, and when the segment originally aired, Steve got all excited--""Look! Look! It's people we know--on TV!!!"
After that bit of excitement, we all went down to the Castro to do a little shopping. The Daves drove us back up the hill on their way back to the house they were staying at, to pack and get ready for their red-eye flight back to Sydney that evening.
Today is sunny and clear and looks like a great day to get outside and enjoy it. I just love living in California in the winter!!
