One day at a time

Hi everybody! Things are gettng better evey day. Steve's physical therapist Sharon, who will also be his home care case manager, came by yesterday. She's great, and very thorough. After filling out the 25-page intake form together, she evaluated Steve's current conditon, and gave us innumerable helpful instructions, from adjusting the walker to the correct height to pages of exercises. She'll be visitng twice a week. And by next week, she says Steve will be able to go up and down the stairs, so we can sleep in our own bed again.

But for this week, we're camping in the living room. We currently have 3 notebook computers in the room--Steve's, my personal one, and my work laptop. I moved the wireless router to the other side of my study upstairs, and attached a directional antenna pointng toward the living room, and the wireless works fine now, so we won't need to string cables everywhere. We moved the futon in Steve's study to the dining room, where I'm sleeping for the rest of this week.

Jeff (abearius) and Neil, our teacher/caller for the square dance class we're "angels" for, stopped by Monday evening. Jeff brought werewolf cookies (ask him for the recipe) and Neil brought some lovely dahlias and a nice big bar of dark chocolate, which Steve loves. We had tea and a great visit. Yesterday afternoon, Dave H. came over, bearing dinner (burritos from Zapata in the Castro--yum-o). He watched the second Back to the Future movie with us--we're watching the third today. Finaly catching p on DVDs we've been wanting to see.

Hug on him for me, and plenty on him for yourself as well.

Hurray for HomeCare
Glad to hear Steve's progressing.
Earl did Physical Therapy Home Care in the bay area for over 15yrs. The new "oasis" paperwork that california uses for "new patient opens" is a bear for anyone to do. Earl was used to teach the nurses and other homecare staff at VNA and Hospice since he also helped design the PT portion of the paperwork. What a pain that is, but I have digressed.
Again, cudos for steve doing well, keep it up. I'm happy to see how devoted you are to your love! I really am!!!
