Saturday we went to Trader Joe's (zero-carb chocolate and other dietary essentials, like Chock Full Of Nuts coffee), Cala (carnitas) and Safeway (chicken, cheese, other cooking supplies). At 2:00PM Steve's brother David and his wife Andrea came over. They just returned from a 3 1/2 moth cross country driving trip, visiting friends and relatives. David is writing the family biography, and interviewd as many aunts, uncles and cousins as possible. They wanted to share some stories with us, and hear about our month-long trip back East last July. We gabbed for 7 hours, with a short break for dinner (salad, white chili, carnitas).
This morning we met up with
Well, the Tower at Stonestown Galleria is in its own building, on the second floor, over a Good Guys store. I always love to check out the TVs in Good Guys, so I ran in while Steve took the escalator up to Tower. Long story short, we bought a 43" Samsung HDTV. It's a DLP rear-projection model that will just fit in out teak entertainment center in the living room. Hey, it was $1000 off, and we have a *ahem* sizable DVD collection, so I figured it was a good investment. We spent the afternoon rewiring all the components to pipe the video through our digital A/V receiver, ready for the new set to be installed tomorrow. We also are moving the old giant (32") CRT TV up to the bedroom, which means rearranging a lot of stuff. David is coming over in a few minutes to help move the heavy furniture and the massive TV upstairs, as my back won't tolerate it.
So we look forward to many long winter evenings cocooning in front of the warm glow of high definition video. Woohoo!!!
