I love most of these films, especially: Mommie Dearest, The Purple Oprah and Moonstruck. I LOVE Moonstruck!!!

Oh, me too--I think Cher is a great dramatic actress. I loved her in Mask and Silkwood too. And my friend Tom, who generally despises Cher, admits she's wonderful in Tea For Mussolini. I haven't seen it yet, though we have it on DVD. Someday we're going to have a mass film marathon of all the DVDs we have that we haven't seen.

I agree with your friend, Tom. Cher was great in Tea for Musssolini. However, I was greatly disappointed in it as a film in general. I mean, it had all of the right "pieces"...a great cast, beautiful, gorgeous settings, fine writing...but somehow, for me anyway, it just missed the mark. I can't put my finger on the reason why.

I'm amazed at the number of people who have listed The Color Purple. While not in my top 10, it's easily in my 11-20. I mean really, who wouldn't want to be Shug Avery?

Color Purple is definately one of my Fav's also. I cry everytime at that movie not matter how many times I see it

The first time I saw this movie, at the end I was literally sobbing, and I had no kleenex. I was a mess. It still makes me cry, but that first time, I really wailed.

Such a great film.
