quick update

Steve (rootbeer1) and I changed our vacation plans somewhat, and left on Thursday afternoon for Anaheim and Palm Springs instead of Salt Lake City. Friday we did LA stuff, and Saturday morning we went to Disneyland for the day. Just before noon, Steve tripped on a curb and hurt his knee. Disney nurses, security, paramedics, ambulance, ER, CT and xrays later, we found he had a fracurued tibia up near the knee. The leg is immobilized, and we left the hospital at 5 PM. The car was all packed for Palm Springs, so I drove us back to San Francisco. Steve is doing fine, in some pain which Vicodin is helping, but needs to see an orthopedic surgeon as soon as possible (his regular doctor is waiting to call us back).

Thanks to everyone who's sent support. We haven't check LJ in two days, but as soon as I can get the wireless working in the bedroom, we'll fill in the details.

That especially goes for bears named Steve or Stephen.

Speaking of curbs
Oh, ouch!

Steve should not be tripping (no pun intended) with curbs. Hope he recovers soon.

I have a dear friend here in Seattle who did a similar thing, but the curb at the Seattle Central C.C. parking garage when he went to get the Flexcar to go do errands and broke his tibia, just below the knee this past spring. By august, he was up and around, with a cane. At least he was out and about under his own steam finally.

Sorry to hear about Steve. Hugs to him.

Dr. Feldman will most likely refer Steve to the Orthopedic Group at 3838 California. Phone is 668-8010. There are multiple doctors there. double_ohsteven's doctor is Taylor Smith, but he'd prefer to someone else. We went on Thursday, and we've been unable to get the surgery coordinator to return our calls.

Maybe Steve & Steve will wind up with simultaneous surgeries, LOL.

Bears and bones and bears named Steve...
Hope he's doing OK, considering, and the doc's prognosis is good.
Hugs to ya both!

Hmm, definitely a Steve thing happening. Look at it this way, if Disney ever opens a Killer Curb entertainment, Steve can say he was the first.

Get better quick!

I can highly recommend these people, the Center for Sports Medicine at St Francis. Orthopedic surgery is part of the program.

There are seven or eight people from work who have been there- from shin splints to broken tibias to torn ligaments (me!) Who knew working at a magazine could be so hazardous;)

Besides that, I guess you should feel lucky it happened at Magic Kingdom! Tell Steve to feel better. It must be such a drag. I drove by your house today around three, thinking "how nice, they're on vacation."
