Those were the days

YOUR SENIOR YEAR OF HIGH SCHOOL! WOW!

What year was it?
1972-1973

What were your three favorite bands/musicians?
Simon and Garfunkel, The Beatles, E. Power Biggs

What was your favorite outfit?
Jeans, sweatshirt or colored pocket t-shirt, hoodie, sneakers

What was up with your hair?
I had hair!! Longish, swoopy in front, full beard trimmed down to a goatee for senior picture

Who were your best friends?
Rick, Gary, Lois

What did you do after school?
Hang out with friends, do homework, watch TV

Did you take the bus?
Yes, every day. Didn't get a car till I was 21.

Who did you have a crush on?
Rick. And surprisingly, Lois.

Did you fight with your parents?
Some, but mostly I stayed in my room to avoid the alcoholic drama. I escaped to college as soon as I could.

Who did you have a celebrity crush on?
Lyle Waggoner, Sebastian Cabot

Did you smoke cigarettes?
Yes, with the other cool kids at the school bus stop.

Did you lug all of your books around in your backpack all day because you were too nervous to find your locker?
No. And we didn't have backpacks in those days. Boys carried their books on one hip, girls carried them against their chest. If you had a briefcase you were a fag.

Did you have a 'clique'
If the geek squad counts as a clique. Calculus, Latin Club, Math Contest--this was our milieu.

Did you have "The Max" like Zach Kelly and Slater?
The "Drugstore" in our little village, and the Gran Prix diner up by the Northway.

Admit it, were you popular?
Only with my teachers, whom I brownnosed shamelessly.

Who did you want to be just like?
Mary Tyler Moore

What did you want to be when you grew up?
An architect or a chef

Where did you think you'd be at the age you are now?
Married to Lois with a passel of brats, working for the State and living in her parents' house.

Jeans, sweatshirt or colored pocket t-shirt, hoodie, sneakers...

It's amazing that some fashion things haven't really changed much at all in the past thirty years. What am I wearing right now? Jeans, a colored pocket t-shirt, hoddie, and sneakers!

Who did you want to be just like?
Mary Tyler Moore

Now that I think about it, so did I. :-)

Re: A passel of Brats
How very Wisconsin.

Although, I find brats to be close to white hots, so they're ok.

And NO ONE knows what salt potatos are here!

Re: A passel of Brats
Salt potatoes!! Can't get 'em in California either. We used to bring a big bag camping with us and boil 'em up over the fire.

Now I'm hungry for white hots and salt potatoes!!

Salt potatoes--yum! What's a summer barbecue without a trough of salt potatoes?

And you're Doris Day (SF) instead of MTM (MN)! Not too shabby!
